Dhaka- - Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria yesterday inaugurated branches of Employment Bank and Krishi Bank in Gazipur district to generate self-employment and facilitate rural banking, an area where private banks are reluctant to take part.

Opening a branch of Employment Bank at Kaliganj upazila, the Finance Minister said any youth can take upto Tk 50,000 without any collateral from this bank and use the money in economic projects, and he can make his own fate as well as contribute to the national development.

The government established the Employment Bank to help the jobless youths self-employed.

State Minister for Rural Development Advocate Rahmat Ali, parliament members Akhtaruzzaman and Meher Afroz Chumki, and local Awami League leaders AKM Mozammel Huq and SM Nazrul Islam spoke at the inaugural function.

Earlier, the Finance Minister opened a Krishi Bank branch at Aorakhali Bazar of the district.
